			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>PJ Library Klezmer and Kids Story Hour</strong></p>
<p>Children and adults are invited to celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month (May) at a very special PJ Library Story Hour featuring author Heidi Smith Hyde, who will read her book Mendel’s Accordion, and accordion player Barry Shapiro, who will entertain with klezmer music.  Klezmer and Kids will take place on Friday, May 18, 3:30 p.m. at Cohen Hillel Academy, 6 Community Road in Marblehead</p>
<p>Children will delight in this coming &#8211; to &#8211; America story, while learning about klezmer music, its place in Jewish culture and its modern-day revival.  Children will form a klezmer band from instruments they will make, and will dance and play along with Barry the accordion player.</p>
<p> Klezmer and Kids Story Hour, a free program of the Robert I. Lappin Charitable Foundation in partnership with Cohen Hillel Academy and the Jewish Heritage Center of the North Shore, is open to all who want to celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month.  PJ Library Klezmer and Kids Story Hour is made possible by a generous allocation from the Jewish Federation of the North Shore.</p>

<p>Babies and Tots of the PJ Library are invited to meet-up and stroll (with an adult, of course!) on Wednesdays, from April 25 – June 6, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at scenic Forest River Park in Salem, weather permitting.</p>
<p>Forest River Park is located off of Lafayette St. at the end of West Ave. in Salem.  West Ave. is at the intersection on Lafayette St. where Salem State University is located.</p>
<p>There is ample free parking.  We will meet at the entrance to the beach at the top of the parking lot and stroll around the paved road, which goes in a circle around the park.<br />

<p>Children ages 6 months through 8  years old, are eligible for the PJ Library, a program that provides <strong>free</strong> Jewish books and music every month to children from Jewish and interfaith families.</p>

<p>The program, designed to help keep our children Jewish by promoting a sense of Jewish pride in young children, is provided free by the Robert I. Lappin Charitable Foundation, Cohen Hillel Academy and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation of Western Massachusetts.  The books are mostly soft covered with beautiful illustrations.  A monthly newsletter is sent to families with helpful information about The PJ Library books, Jewish holidays, and related arts and crafts activities.</p>
<p>The Lappin Foundation service area is one of more than 160 communities nationally to be part of this growing program that sends out more than 90,000 books every month.</p>
<p>To date, the Lappin Foundation has enrolled more than 1,125 children from  725  families in the program and plans to reach many more.</p>
<p>The PJ Library is free and open to Jewish and interfaith families who live in or affiliate with a Jewish institution in the Lappin Foundation service area.</p>
